To light the Loki safely and in an environmentally friendly way, Petromax recommends using the spark arrester. This cylindrical metal grid is simply placed on the top stove pipe. It ensures that rising sparks or glowing particles are extinguished before they can cause potential damage to the tent or to nature. The spark arrester is particularly useful when resinous types of wood are burned. In these cases, an increased number of glowing particles are created, which can be effectively controlled by the spark arrester.
